The heart of Noe Valley, San Francisco's "Village within the City," is 24th Street. This colorful and pedestrian-friendly thoroughfare boasts an inviting array of trendy boutiques, comfortable pubs, outdoor cafes and restaurants, some of them slightly off-beat, all of them interesting and unique. Visitors can explore retail outlets selling imported cheeses, gelato, herbs and oils, hard-to-find magazines and poetry, coffee beans and teas from around the world. Parents with baby strollers often crowd the sidewalks as they make their way to the many clothing and gift stores for everyone in the family. Neighbors and visitors alike stop by the Noe Valley Certified Farmers Market on 24th Street between Sanchez and Vicksburg on Saturday morning to purchase healthy, organic food and support small, local farmers while enjoying live music and sun. The benches in the neighborhood invite an urban picnic. The Noe Valley Harvest Festival takes place each fall along 24th Street and features art, crafts, a horse drawn hay ride, refreshments and event booths.
